A Kare Kit tablet is a combination medication that is used for medical abortion. This medicine stops all the activities of female hormones that are required to maintain pregnancy and induce contraction in the uterus, which further leads to abortion.
HOW A KARE KIT WORKS
A Kare Kit contains two medicines Mifepristone and Misoprostol, which cause abortion. Mifepristone blocks the effects of progesterone, a natural female hormone that is needed for the pregnancy to sustain. Without this hormone, the lining of the uterus breaks down as it does during a menstrual period and stops the growth of the pregnancy. Misoprostol is a synthetic prostaglandin E1 which is a potent inhibitor of gastric acid secretion in humans. It also causes the cervix to soften and the uterus to contract.
Mifepristone is a steroidal antiprogestogen, it may be used together with misoprostol for an early pregnancy loss. This medication is commonly used in combination with misoprostol for an abortion during pregnancy. This combination is 97% effective during the first 63 days of pregnancy. It is usually taken by mouth.
Misoprostol is a medication used to cause an abortion and treat postpartum bleeding due to poor contraction of the uterus. For causing an abortion it is used by itself and with mifepristone. Its effectiveness for abortion is between 66% to 90%.
